Bariatric Patient Education
Here at Beltline Bariatric and Surgical Group, we're committed to helping you make informed choices about your health care - that's why we offer free bariatric patient education seminars both online and at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, Piedmont Newnan Hospital and Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
Our weight loss seminars are designed to answer many of the questions you might have about weight loss surgery, and to meet the pre-operative patient educational requirements of your insurance provider.
Severe morbid obesity is a disease that is debilitating and places an individual at increased risk for several comorbidities and shorter life expectancy. We have a multidisciplinary program to aid individuals suffering from morbid obesity and to help them overcome this condition.
Morbid obesity is increasingly recognized as a major health threat. It is defined as being at least 80 – 100 lbs over ideal body weight or having a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or greater. Approximately seven percent or 16 million of the adult U.S. population suffer from this condition. In only 5% of cases will diet and exercise alone cure morbid obesity over the long term.
Who Should Attend A Bariatric Patient Education Seminar?
If you've struggled to achieve a healthy, stable body weight through diet and exercise and you have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater, bariatric surgery could be an effective treatment option for you.
The first step towards having weight loss surgery at Beltline Bariatric is participation in one of our free informational sessions. Our patient education seminars are designed for adults who are interested in pursuing medical weight loss to treat chronic obesity. Attendance is required for anyone seeking coverage through their insurance provider.
What Can I Expect During A Weight Loss Education Seminar?
Our bariatric surgery seminar includes in-depth information about medical weight loss. We review all the weight loss procedures offered here at Beltline Bariatric and explain the pros and cons of each operation. We also discuss patient outcomes, possible complications, and the criteria used to determine the best treatment options for our patients.
Each seminar lasts about two hours and is facilitated by one of our medical weight loss experts.
What If I Can't Attend An In-Person Seminar?
We understand that finding the time to attend an in-person bariatric patient education seminar can be difficult, especially if you live outside of the Atlanta area - that's why we also offer an online bariatric patient education option.
Our online weight loss seminar includes all of the same information covered in our in-person seminars, making it easy for you to participate in a bariatric patient education seminar from the comfort of your home or office.
